The National Equality March took place on October 11, 2009 in Washington, D.C.. Demanding equal protection for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people. The march was created by David Mixner and implemented by Cleve Jones. It was organized by Equality Across America and the Courage Campaign.
Literally hundreds of thousands of participants marched from the White House to the Capitol demanding President Obama keep his promises to do away with DADT. Many were outraged after Prop 8 passed in California, overturning the rights of gays to marry.
