When I grow up, I want to be this guy. 

Seriously.

I know I'm a bit old to look at someone elses life wistfully and wish we could trade places, but I can't help it.  In  youth obsessed gay culture, most of us turn our backs on the future and what growing older means.    Well listen close Mary, because it doesn't have to be scary.  This gay man has carved out a life I would give my eye teeth for in so many respects!

I've written about the apathy of today's queer youth and how they lack role models.   This guy would be my role model on paper.  (Okay...cyber paper.)

A Diva Makes A Comeback....

.....and so does Whitney Houston.

Alrighhhht....I may not be a "Diva",  but after a truly rough patch in june, I wasn't sure if I was going to be back or not (in any capacatity) but here I am.

What's the old saying?  "If it doesn't kill you, it just makes you stronger"? 

I won't bore you with all the details, God knows I shared enough of those in my previous blog, but suffice to say I really am in an all around much better place and I've missed blogging.   Not that I have that much to say....but I have missed it.

One thing a gay guy reallyreallyreally loves is a Diva making a comeback...and I'm stoked for Whitney Houston's interview with Oprah, september 14th.   After some initial concerns, I've heard she is being extremely candid and forthcoming so I'm optimistic this is going to be a good chat with the 'O'.  

I've been listening to her latest release for about 3 1/2 weeks now (yes I somehow scored an late advance advance listen and I do like it alot.  Of course anyone expecting the soaring powerhouse vocals she used to have is going to be disappointed.   For whatever reason (age, too much crack pipe, or vocal wear and tear) she's singing lower in her register and the acrobatic vocal runs are mostly long gone....but it's a solid piece of work and she looks and sounds healthy.   When you think about it....what more can any of us truly ask for?

I'm glad Whitney's back, and I'm glad I'm back too.
