WALL OF SHAME

"There is a right to privacy, but not a right to hypocrisy.  It is very important that the people who make the law be subject to the law.  People who are not subject to the laws will make harsh laws because they don't have to live with them".   --Barney Frank

"Know thy enemy" --Chinese philosopher Sun Tzu

Who woulda thunk that the CEO of a fast food restaurant could stir up so much trouble when it comes to Gay Marriage?   After declaring his company "Guilty as charged" regarding it's stance against gay marriage, he ignited a firestorm of controversy.  Dan Cathy placed himself on the wrong side of history when it comes to civil rights and forced the glbt community and our allies to examine where our money goes when we fork it over to someone like him. * His companies charitable arm, WinShape, gave nearly $2 million to groups opposing gay marriage in 2010. The Cathy's have contributed more than $81,000 to state and federal politicians since 1990, according to the Center for Responsive Politics and National Institute on Money in State Politics. All but $3,250 of those contributions went to Republicans, all of whom held anti-gay marriage views. *src US NEWS

Michele Bachmann is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Minnesota's 6th congressional district.  She attempted an unsuccesful bid for the Republican Presidential Nomination in 2012, and it was during this run her bigoted views toward the LGBT community came into sharp focus.  Michele and her husband Marcus, whose sexuality has been questioned widely within the gay community, run a Christian counseling center offering conversion therapy for homosexuals.   Bachmaan, who had a slight problem quoting accurate facts and figures in her speeches, along with her husband, had no problem spouting their anti gay views at any opportunity presented to them, and adamantly supported the DOMA.

Few hate mongers are as blatant, vile or open about their hatred for gays, than Brian Fischer.   But it isn't just hate that this former church pastor spews from his microphone, he also shouts blatant lies and misinformation about the LGBT community to anyone who will hear him.   Lies like Hitler and the Nazi's were gay, HIV doesn't cause AIDS, and the separtation between church and state is mythical are just the tip of the iceberg of frozen crazy he shouts from the rooftops.  Brian Fischer is is the Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association, a designated Hate Group.

Ken Mehlman occupies a unique footnote in gay history. Mehlman by all accounts, liked being a DC power player.  He even headed George Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.  In fact, that presidential campaign, the Bush reelection effort and the GOP used anti-gay marriage initiatives in key states, such as Ohio, to enhance their electoral prospects. The party continued to whip up anti-gay sentiment after Melhman assumed the helm of the Republican National Committee.  His coming out was hardly a surprise, he was outed by each party and by blogger Michael Rogers.  Melhman said he wanted to become a gay marriage activist, but the reaction toward him by the gay community at large was at best one of suspicion and at worst hatred after suffering through policies he helped draft and implement during the Bush regime.

Former Idaho Senator Larry Craigs voting record is a horror show. He voted NO on domestic partnerships twice, No on gays in the military also twice, NO on gay marriage three times, and no on ENDA also three times. He voted NO on hate crimes protections four times and NO on HIV/Aids bills a whopping eleven times over his voting career. But elicit sex with men in public restrooms in 2007 got a resounding YES! In 1982 there was a similar scandal involving sex with Pages which Craig took it upon himself to refute the charges before he had even been named.

A singer, Miss America Contestant and Pitchwoman, Anita Bryant is most famous for her 1977 campaign in Dade County Florida to repeal a local ordinance which prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.  Dubbed the 'Save Our Children' campaign, it was based on ultra conservative biblical beliefs, and used scare tactics claiming homosexuals were actively "recruiting" children.   She took her cause to several states in the 1970s and inadvertantly became a galvanizing force for the Gay Rights Movement.  She was famously hit in the face with a pie at a news conference in Des Moines Iowa in 1977, and as a result of her hateful activism, lost her job pitching Florida Orange Juice.

CA Representative David Dreier's voting record belies his percieved sexual orientation. NO on ENDA twice, NO on gays in the military twice, NO to domestic partnerships four times, NO to gay marriage three times, and NO to HIV/AIDS support TEN TIMES!....but...YES to romantic getaways with your also closeted partner.

NEB Senator Ed Schrock's voting record: NO on domestic partnerships, NO on gay marriage twice, NO on hate crimes legislation.....but YES to phone sex hookups. Schrock announced on August 30, 2004, that he would abort his 2004 attempt for a third term in Congress after allegedly being caught on tape soliciting sex from a male prostitute. In the weeks before his announcement, Michael Rogers' blog ACTIVE.com had said that Schrock is gay — or at least a bisexual — despite having aggressively opposed various gay-rights issues in Congress, such as same-sex marriage and gays serving in the military.
