Time Travel Thursday

Before Judy donned her ruby slippers and sang her heart out.. before the first punch was thrown at Stonewall,  and way before gay.com hit the internet....we were here, we were queer...and we were posing in front of the camera.

I find these photos every so often and I love them.   This particular one is off the web, but I have a handful of 'old timey' picture cards where two men are in intimate poses that are usually a step or two beyond general male affection.

I love looking at them and wondering the context of their relationship/friendship.   Could they be two siblings from a close family?   Was it just goofing around?  Could they have been secret lovers and if so how did they make that work?    Queer history is fascinating  and whatever the circumstances behind the photographs they left behind, they offer a tantalizing glimpse into the 'gay ol days'.
